Change is Hard-Even If It's Furniture

True story- I have been an unimaginably crazy, hormonal monster lately.

I don't know what my deal is, or how my dear kind family puts up with me. Yet, they do it- with the sweetest of love and care that it turns my nutty into tears- scaring everyone further.

It has been a busy whirlwind recently, with small and big changes thrown into the pot to add an extra bit of mayhem on my poor heart.

We were in Tennessee for a week, and then came home to a complete overhaul of house and structure. First, I decided that this homeschooling route I had taken us on, was not actually functioning. The joy of learning had been lost in a cacophony of worksheets and lessons, action had to be taken! Consequently, I have spent every free minute reworking and rebuilding, hopefully, to have arrived at a program that will put the happiness back in our days.

Then I got the hair brained  idea that a school room would be amazing! A room that we could paint and playdoh, build and create with art supplies abounding. So Saturday we rose early and worked tirelessly all day, moving everyones bedrooms. On a high from all the excitement, I failed to think clearly, and by the end of the day and the move, I realized what had happened- I no longer had a nursery. My baby girl, my sweet tiny little angel, is now sleeping in the big kid room with her brothers and sister. It all happened so fast, just like that, and I didn't even get to prepare.

I woke up the next morning in my new room, listening to the excitement and rowdiness across the hall, and I  couldn't help it, the feelings just came- it didn't feel like home, it was all wrong.

Here's a true testament to the incredible man that I married- he had worked so hard, taking everything apart, moving beds and furniture, hanging pictures. Each step taking the time, to ask if I liked it, If I was sure this is what I wanted, and then here I am, loco as ever, waiting til it's completely finished - and then crying. Ha, he didn't even get frustrated, just held me while I mourned and murmured that he'd move it all back.

See, hormonal monster.

Lessons to be learned: If your not a fan of change, maybe tred slowly and not when your PMS-ing, furthermore- marry well:)

  1. What a great husband! ;) moving things can be such a pain... I once rearranged my entire bedroom and absolutely hated it. I was too tired to switch everything back though so it stayed like that for a few days :'( thankfully I had my husband to help me! :D

  2. It is always really great to have a strong support system beside you to help you when you need that extra support. I am sure there are many ways that you do this for him too. I think that homeschooling sounds like a lovely and romantic idea but in reality it is a lot more challenging than it looks - although with that - it can also be so much more rewarding as well.

  3. Wow, I can totally relate to this... I always turn into this emotional wreck when it comes to change, and when I've had a bad day, and when I'm getting my period, and *insert any other reason here*. When the storm passes and I'm feeling happier, I'll sob because I'm feeling better. It's just nuts. I'm glad I have a supportive husband who gets me, otherwise I will be considered a nutjob. Glad I'm not the only one!

    Hang in there x

  7. at least you can take comfort in a few things 1) your husband sounds amazing - understanding, capable and empathetic 2) your cute kids (those photos!!!) don't let you be upset for long and 3) we're all hormonal monsters at least some of the time.

hoping everything gets a little better for you <3

  12. Change is so hard. And that's a huge change! I remember how hard it was to get rid of the crib because it meant we were done with babies. Your husband sounds AMAZING & you are so lucky to have him. Hugs!

  15. Awww, sweet friend! You're an amazing Mama and your heart and passionate inspiration you want for your kids is just so beautiful. We all adjust and figure things out in the different stages of our life. Heck, I went through this a few weeks ago on a smaller scale when trying to figure out where to put my 'home studio' (ended up renting one for super cheaply somewhere else, but it was after we moved my stuff around the house like 3 times). hope you guys are able to figure out what truly works best for your family. xo

  16. Aw, true love. It's real when he knows you're on the hormone train running at full steam and keeps a steady head and heart. So now you're on to the next chapter...home rearranged, school structure restructured, the adult room all to yourself! It all sounds promising to me! High five, Chels.

  18. hehe oh this is so sweet. Change really can be so hard. I'm finding that growing up is just plain weird. So many random days it feels wrong. Everyone says it's hard and exciting.. but never weird. I don't know. I hope that all is returning to normal. Last week I was also hormonal... and a big mess. I was super moody, and between both JT and Macklemore being almost-daddies .... I was losing it. So ridiculously out of character for me. :) haha We females sometimes... :) Luckily, I also have a sweet man who totally got it and just took care of me and didn't make me feel silly or emotional at all. :) XO -Alexandra

  20. LOL! Oh my, this made me tear-up and laugh out loud all at once...Thank you for that. You commented on my last post that you could have written the words I wrote... to a less extent, I too could have writen these : In the last 4 months we have moved my craft space, taking over the kids' playroom to move my daughter out of her room and into the master with her brother, us taking our room into my daughter's old room and then moving the toys into the walk-in closet and revamping half the living room into a play space. Then, on a whim, I asked my husband to tear down all the upper cabinets in our kitchen to biuld me open shelves. Just as we were demolishing the kitchen, the acrylic tub in our bathroom cracked! So now, the kitchen is sitting still half demolished while we build oursleves a new bathroom. We have had no working tub/shower for 3 weeks (thank GOD my parents live 4 streets away)... The whole point was to declutter and minimalize and now, we have boxes and piles everywhere. *sighs* We have extraordinary men in our lives don't we???
