a celebration

We celebrated our little girl from the wee hours of morn til the moon was up and the stars had been clouded over. Filling the day with all her favorite foods and a few of her favorite people.

She received her first sewing machine, and together she and I learned how to set up, thread and use it- producing pillows and blankets for bitty babes. We crafted and painted and had a girls only getaway for manicures and yummy beverages. Topping it all off with a huge lego extravaganza on their bedroom floor, Parent Trap- her movie of choice, playing in the background. We filled any free moments with smooches and snuggles, wrestling matches, I love yous, laughter, and silliness. I think we did her right.

  6. Hi! It seems feedburner isn't cooperating with me trying to follow you by email. Which is a shame because your blog is so lovely. So I have no tried adding you to my blogger feed. We'll see how it goes. I love reading about your home and your family. Happy birthday to your 'little' girl! -my youngest sister (17 years younger than me.) turned 7(!) in April. How she has grown. We got to spend the day with her on Saturday. We played board games, painted, watched Ratatouille and had dinner together. It was really nice. She even 'checked out' some American Girl books from my 'Library'. It's so fun to share that with her. :) XO -Alexandra

    1. Ha mine either! I had no idea how to use it, so we're learning together, although she will surpass me quickly- I have zero patience for this sort of thing!

  16. Aw this is so great! I WANT that cake! I LOOOOVVVEEE raspberries. And I really need to step back and rethink my life - I can't believe your 8 year old can use a sewing machine. 25 years and I still can't do that. What am I doing??? Haha.

  19. This sounds like such a lovely birthday gathering :) Your daughter must have been so excited to get her first sewing machine, that's such a wonderful gift that she'll get to enjoy for years.

  20. I love that she is so creative! I hope she loves to sew! That's one thing I wish I had paid more attention to when I was growing up. My mom would sew for us, but I never much cared to learn. It would be such a helpful habit now! I mean, I can sew on a button, but that's about it. ;)
