sweet reprieve

It is late at night, early morn, as I sit here typing this. The house is finally quiet, and I've got a few lovely minutes to write.

I have just come home from a little mini vacation with my BFF.  She is amazing. So funny and beautiful. As friends go, we're soul mates! Opposites in every way except the ones that matter. We did nothing and everything all at once. Ate great food at a relaxing pace, read books while we laid by the pool sipping cocktails, went to a movie, possibly threw in a massage or two, because we're girls and it's important to pamper yourselves now and then. We also went to the lake and took a paddle boarding yoga class! It was totally the bees knees. We were being way to silly and fell in the water a ridiculous amount of times. I laughed so hard my stomach is actually sore today. It was a great couple days, exactly what I needed.

The kids and I start school today and I'm so excited. They're homeschooled and this is my first year to have two that are school age. I'm a little bit nervous about that, but I'm sure I'll get the hang of it. I actually enjoy having the routine of school, and it always seems that the kids enjoy it too. This year I've made some curriculum changes that I think will be good. It should allow for more time and energy to be focused on reading and exploring their creativity. Since Kaleb gets to be around, he is going to help on Tuesdays and Thursdays and I know that the littles will absolutely love that.

Sometimes, I am so overcome with how much I love my little life. Living here on this farm and raising the littles together with Kaleb everyday is what I dreamed of. Having the opportunity to homeschool them and letting them be free to live out their childhoods as children is such a blessing. I can forget sometimes, but this life is my dreams coming true.

So what have you been up to, anything exciting?

  1. Awesome trip, chels! Our friendship is one of the great stories of my life and I cherish our time together (even if my paddle boarding yoga skills could use some work)! Good luck on first day back at school

    1. Lol Thank you! I'm glad it comes off like it's easy for me, but it's definitely not the case most of the time.
